Responsible for supervising and managing operational activities of line locators and damage prevention teams. Ensures compliance with safety standards, contract terms, and state dig laws. Oversees scheduling, audits, and performance of locate tickets within required timelines while promoting safety and operational excellence.
Accountabilities And Essential Functions
- Supervise and coach employees and contractors; conduct performance evaluations and administer training.
- Monitor quality, timeliness, and compliance of locates; audit field work and ensure on-time performance of locate requests.
- Resolve customer and excavator complaints; investigate damages and assist claims management.
- Manage budgets, expenditures, and contractor invoices; track ticket trends for process improvements.
- Participate in legislative and industry committees; collaborate with One Call Centers for operational improvements.
- Ensure safety meetings are effective and held regularly; monitor safety performance of work group.
- Assist operations with high-profile line watch and protect functionality and unlocatable lines.
- Prepare oral and written reports and presentations as required.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and implement best practices for damage prevention.
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to company, safety, and departmental policies.
Minimum education required of the position
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in business from an accredited college or university, or a combination of education and experience equaling two years of relevant experience for every one year of college education in addition to the experience requirements.
- Minimum 8 years of utility distribution experience OR 5 years leadership experience in gas/electric delivery environment.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to analyze financial data and manage budgets.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret maps, prints, and technical material.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of locate requests, compliance laws, and safe work practices.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles safely.
