You’ll work closely with Information Systems, leadership, and key stakeholders to ensure a secure, compliant, and resilient environment—especially within a highly regulated healthcare setting.
What You’ll Do
Cyber Defense & Risk Management
- Design, implement, and maintain security policies, protocols, and controls to protect systems and data
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and penetration testing; track and drive remediation
- Monitor threat intelligence feeds and proactively hunt for indicators of compromise (IOCs)
- Analyze high volumes of security logs and alerts to identify and respond to threats
Incident Response & Operations
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents including malware, intrusions, and unauthorized access
- Lead containment, investigation, recovery, and post-incident improvements
- Provide first-line cybersecurity response through the help desk and serve as the primary security point of contact
- Be available during cybersecurity events and major incidents, including off-hours emergencies
Security Architecture & Engineering
- Collaborate on secure network and system architectures
- Select, deploy, and manage security tools including SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners
- Implement and monitor security controls for cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Develop security automation scripts to improve detection and response efficiency
Compliance, Training & Collaboration
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state privacy laws, and industry security frameworks
- Perform audits, gap analyses, and compliance reporting for stakeholders
- Develop and deliver security awareness training, phishing simulations, and documentation
- Evaluate and manage security vendors and service providers
- Contribute technical documentation to the knowledge base and participate in IT projects and deployments
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field OR 4 years of progressive cybersecurity experience
- At least 2 years in a Cyber Security Specialist or similar role
- Experience analyzing logs, network traffic, and security alerts at scale
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning and endpoint protection
- Healthcare industry experience preferred
Certifications
Required (or within 6 months of hire):
- CompTIA Security
Preferred:
- CISSP, CEH, GSEC, CySA , CISM, or other relevant certifications
