Temporary Position through August 2026 with potential extension
7am - 7pm coverage EVERY Wednesday 12-hour shift every other week.
Paid Training
60-hour Peer and Family Support Training via Advocates for Recovery
About the Role
As a Behavioral Health Crisis Intervention Specialist , you’ll provide peer-informed support, crisis intervention, and emergency psych evaluations for patients in the Emergency Department and inpatient settings. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to stabilize patients, create safety plans, and connect them to vital community resources for long-term success.
What You’ll Do
- Support patients on Emergency Commitment holds with empathy, boundaries, and hope
- Conduct crisis assessments, safety planning, and emergency psych evaluations
- De-escalate acute mental health and substance-use crises using trauma-informed care
- Connect patients and families to housing, therapy, and community resources
- Collaborate with physicians, licensed clinicians, peers, and community partners
- Provide follow-up for patients screening positive for depression or suicidality
- Document care accurately and contribute to Delta Health’s data-driven model
- Advocate for patients with culturally responsive, patient-centered care
What We’re Looking For
- 1 year experience in mental health, crisis intervention, or related setting
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (social work, psychology, counseling, or similar)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings/weekends
- Comfortable working in ED and inpatient hospital environments
- Peer Specialist Certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
- BHA Crisis Professional Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Spanish-speaking a plus, not required

- Experience with screeners like EPDS and social needs assessments
