Description:

The Materials & Logistics Manager leads all logistics and materials management functions, including client interface, supervision of shipping and receiving, inventory control, and material reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and full traceability across both manual and electronic systems. This role oversees warehouse and transportation operations across Deadhorse, Kuparuk, Alpine, and Willow; supervises personnel; and partners with procurement and construction teams to ensure efficient material flow, accountability, and support for project schedules and cost objectives.

Schedule: 3 weeks ON 3 weeks OFF

Work Location: Anchorage and North Slope, Alaska

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve logistics strategies, material management plans, policies, and procedures to support project execution and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and alignment between field operations, procurement, engineering, and project management teams to meet project schedules and business objectives.
  • Lead and manage materials and logistics personnel, including workforce planning, scheduling rotations, staffing coverage, performance management, and recruitment as project demands require.
  • Oversee and enforce accurate material tracking and inventory control processes across all systems (manual and electronic), ensuring full traceability from receipt through final installation or disposition.
  • Ensure proper selection, availability, and utilization of material handling equipment to safely and efficiently support all material movements and storage requirements.
  • Plan, forecast, and manage laydown yard capacity, warehouse space, and logistics flow to support current and future project demands, including surge and peak workload conditions.
  • Direct and coordinate material receiving, inspection, storage, issuance, and transportation activities across multiple warehouses, Delta fabrication shop, and field locations.
  • Enforce quality control processes, including inspection, documentation, non-conformance tracking, and material quarantine procedures as required.
  • Interface with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery, accuracy of shipments, and resolution of material discrepancies (OS&D).
  • Monitor and manage logistics performance metrics (KPIs), including delivery timelines, inventory accuracy, material availability, and cost efficiency; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee surplus material management, including identification, tracking, redistribution, and disposition to maximize cost recovery and minimize waste.
  • Support project cost control efforts by aligning material procurement, surplus utilization, and logistics strategies with budget and forecast requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and regulatory standards related to materials management, transportation, and storage.
  • Promote and actively support the company’s safety culture by ensuring all material handling and logistics activities are conducted in accordance with established safety standards and best practices.
  • Continuously reinforce safe work behaviors, hazard identification, and immediate reporting of unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within materials and logistics operations, including process optimization, system enhancements, and efficiency gains.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with leadership and stakeholders regarding material status, risks, constraints, and mitigation plans.
  • Provide oversight and coordination for critical or high-risk material movements, including oversized loads, specialty equipment, and time-sensitive deliveries.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record retention for all logistics and materials activities, including bills of lading, packing lists, receiving reports, and inventory records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or Equivalent
  • Current and valid driver’s license, with clean driving record required
  • North Slope Training Certification “NSTC” required

  • Strong working knowledge of procurement, materials management, and logistics practices, including inventory control, warehousing, and transportation coordination.
  • Proven ability to perform all work in accordance with company and client safety standards, while actively promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in all interactions, with the ability to represent the organization effectively in both internal and external settings.
  • Proven leadership ability, including supervising, mentoring, and developing teams in a positive and results-driven manner.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project demands, priorities, and work environments while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Highly self-motivated, with strong initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in engaging across all levels of an organization and supporting project controls and reporting processes.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with inventory management systems, ERP platforms, and standard business applications (e.g., Excel, email, reporting tools).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory or agency representatives.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, resolve discrepancies, and drive timely solutions.
  • Working knowledge of quality control processes, material tracking systems, and documentation requirements (e.g., BOLs, packing lists, OS&D reporting).
  • Understanding of cost control principles and the ability to align materials and logistics activities with project budgets and forecasts.
