The Senior Commercial Lender will meet with prospective and existing borrowers to obtain information, discuss loan options, negotiate terms and pricing, and cross sell other CU services. The Senior Commercial Lender will review for accuracy and enforceability of all loan documents including notes, loan agreements, security agreements, collateral documents, appraisals, titles, and other documents as required. The Senior Commercial Lender will remain active in civic organizations to promote the organization in the community.

Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Essential Functions

• Actively participates in the underwriting of loan requests.
• Approves or declines loans within individual loan authority.
• Maintains the portfolio management which includes collections, exceptions, and problem loan resolution.
• Stays up to date on lending policies and lending industry trends.
• Coordinates service efforts with other departments and branches to insure superior service to the borrower.
• Responsible for loan production goals and fee income goals.

Job Qualifications

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business management, or other related discipline.
• 7 years’ professional experience in commercial loan portfolio management and commercial credit related to banking/finance.
• 3 years’ experience in commercial credit underwriting.
• Must be a self-managed self-starter capable of balancing multiple tasks and proactively prioritizing activities in changing conditions with minimum supervision.
• Must have strong member service, sales and negotiating skills.
• Must be politically savvy and capable of interacting with a wide range of personalities and functional groups.
• Strong communication skills – especially verbal, written, and numerical.
• Must be proficient in the use of office productivity technology, especially the advanced use of spreadsheet and word processing software.
• Should be familiar with the current competitive, economic, and regulatory environment of credit unions, banks, and investment finance.
• Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in finance, economics, business management, or other related discipline.
• 9 years’ professional experience in commercial loan production, portfolio management and commercial credit related to banking/finance.
• Applied knowledge of credit union systems, policies, and procedures.
