The instructor will be responsible for effective teaching in the face-to-face, blended, and online classroom. Potential candidates will have the ability to teach online as well as face-to-face and blended/hybrid courses during the evening, at multiple locations (Downtown Centers, Dual Enrollment Partners), and nontraditional times as needed. In addition, we seek candidates whose pedagogy, research, and continuous professional development have prepared them to engage with the college’s commitment to belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI).
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Computer Science and Information Technology Discipline at Delta College is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty member committed to equity, retention, and completion for student success. The instructor will be responsible for effective teaching in the face-to-face, blended, and online classroom. Potential candidates will have the ability to teach online as well as face-to-face and blended/hybrid courses during the evening, at multiple locations (Downtown Centers, Dual Enrollment Partners), and nontraditional times as needed. In addition, we seek candidates whose pedagogy, research, and continuous professional development have prepared them to engage with the college’s commitment to belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI).
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teaching: Develop and deliver course content in cybersecurity topics such as network security, ethical hacking, and incident response. Create engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to enhance student learning. Teach at least 30 equated credit hours annually in a variety of settings including the main campus, Saginaw Center, Midland Center, or online. Online modalities include hybrid, asynchronous, and synchronous. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Delta College. Demonstrate a philosophy of teaching that provides learning opportunities that meet the needs of all students.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and revision of the cybersecurity curriculum to ensure it meets industry standards and prepares students for careers in the field.
- Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in cybersecurity technology and pedagogy through continuous professional development and training.
- Maintain CAE Designation: Ensure the Cybersecurity program continues to meet the criteria and standards for the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE) designation. This includes staying current with CAE requirements, preparing necessary documentation, and participating in related activities to uphold the designation.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Evaluate student performance and progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of student achievements.
- Commitment to Diversity: Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and within the cybersecurity program, ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to succeed.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, industry partners, and other stakeholders to enhance the program and provide students with real-world experiences and opportunities.
- Mentoring: Provide academic advising and support to students, helping them navigate their academic and career goals. Serve as a mentor and role model for students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. If a Master’s is not held upon hire, it must be completed within three years.
- Minimum of two-years of professional experience, five years preferred, in cybersecurity, including roles such as information security analyst, network administrator, ethical hacker or related fields. (Internship and co-op experience not considered)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Additional Experiences Considered
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- One-year teaching experience at the post-secondary level or equivalent, preferred Applicable technology certification and/or related work experience, preferably one or more of the following: Cisco Training
- Check Point Firewalls
- CompTIA certifications
- Linux
- VMware
- Willing to attend specialized training (ie. Cisco, Check Point.)
- Pedagogy is informed by belonging, equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Bilingual
