We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Cloud SME to lead and support enterprise cloud initiatives within a government or large organization environment. This role involves managing complex AWS environments, designing scalable solutions, and guiding cloud modernization efforts to ensure security, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the AWS Organization and Control Tower environment, ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards.
- Design, review, and implement scalable, secure, and highly available AWS solutions aligned with organizational needs.
- Lead architectural reviews and provide guidance on cloud design decisions for multi-account AWS environments.
- Support cloud migrations, application modernization, and AWS adoption strategies for agency stakeholders.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK to automate infrastructure deployment.
- Troubleshoot complex networking, compute, storage, identity, and security issues within AWS environments.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce AWS security best practices, including IAM policies, SCPs, encryption, and network segmentation.
- Manage connectivity between AWS and on-premises infrastructure, supporting hybrid cloud architectures.
- Mentor internal staff and agency personnel on AWS technologies and cloud best practices, contributing to the Cloud Center of Excellence.
- Develop and maintain technical standards, architecture documentation, operational procedures, and training materials.
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to evaluate and integrate cloud solutions, communicating technical concepts effectively.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting AWS environments.
- Deep knowledge of AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudFormation, and experience managing multi-account AWS organizations.
- Strong understanding of AWS Control Tower and Landing Zone architectures.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Strong networking and connectivity troubleshooting skills.
- Experience implementing AWS security and governance best practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience with container technologies such as ECS and EKS.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop technical staff.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
- Experience working in government or highly regulated environments, with familiarity of compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, CJIS, or IRS 1075.
- Knowledge of hybrid-cloud or multi-cloud environments.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
