Key Responsibilities
- Designs, configures, and manages IBM MQ queue managers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability across Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Implements and maintains channel configurations, including sender, receiver, server, and client channels, to facilitate secure and efficient message transfer.
- Architects and manages clustering and distributed queuing solutions to support high availability and load balancing.
- Oversees message persistence, delivery guarantees, and handles dead letter queues and poison message management to ensure message integrity.
- Administers SSL/TLS certificates, LDAP integration, and other security protocols to safeguard message exchanges and authenticate users.
- Monitors system performance, conducts troubleshooting, and performs tuning to optimize MQ operations and resolve incidents promptly.
- Implements capacity planning strategies and maintains detailed documentation of MQ configurations and procedures.
- Collaborates with development and operations teams to support middleware, message brokers, application servers, and cloud messaging platforms.
- Conducts log analysis, error resolution, and implements monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address issues.
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ) administration and configuration.
- Proven expertise in managing queue managers, channels, clustering, and message delivery mechanisms.
- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux administration, including AIX, Red Hat, and SUSE environments.
- Proficiency in shell scripting (bash, ksh) and PowerShell for automation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with TCP/IP networking fundamentals, SSL/TLS certificate management, and LDAP integration.
- Familiarity with middleware platforms, message brokers, and application servers such as WebSphere, JBoss, or Tomcat.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance issues, monitor system health, and optimize MQ operations.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Must have work authorization to operate in the United States.
- IBM Certified System Administrator - MQ certification.
- Experience with cloud messaging platforms such as AWS MQ or Azure Service Bus.
- Knowledge of related technologies like Apache Kafka, IBM Integration Bus, or other middleware solutions.
- Prior experience supporting enterprise-scale messaging environments in regulated or high-availability sectors.
