Our client is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to provide hands-on desktop support, customer service, and technology coordination across multiple office locations. The ideal candidate will assist with hardware/software installation, troubleshooting, inventory control, and end-user support while serving as a key point of contact between technical teams and departmental staff. This role involves supporting day-to-day device operations, implementing upgrades, resolving user issues, maintaining accurate equipment records, and ensuring reliable, secure workstation environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide desktop support including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, peripherals, and related equipment.
- Investigate user issues, identify root causes, determine solutions, and implement fixes.
- Coordinate procurement and installation of hardware and software across state office locations.
- Manage inventory, including retirement and disposal of obsolete or damaged equipment.
- Assist with testing system changes, upgrades, and new software to ensure compatibility.
- Participate in performance and volume analysis to support environment improvements.
- Recommend technical and functional enhancements to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Coordinate virus protection software programs and support patch/update deployment.
- Serve as a point of contact for technology support, service outages, and user communication.
- Support training efforts by contributing to documentation and end-user guidance.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all work for future reference and audit requirements.
- Provide timely and complete responses to general use and environment questions.
- Ensure backup activities, security practices, and quality standards are consistently followed.
- Assist in troubleshooting network issues and application-level problems.
- Participate in team meetings, problem review sessions, and cross-department coordination.
- Develop and conduct user training sessions as needed.
- Support utilization monitoring to ensure system performance meets expectations.
- Maintain strong customer service while proactively addressing user needs.
- 1–3 years of desktop support or client technology support experience.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist users at all technical levels.
- Experience with hardware/software installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Inventory management or asset control experience.
- Knowledge of computer configuration, operating systems, and peripheral equipment.
- Ability to follow technical procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-activity environment.
