Core Functions

  • Safety, Compliance & Workplace Organization
o Follow all safety procedures (LOTO, electrical, fall protection, confined space)
o Maintain clean, organized work areas and tools (6S)
o Identify and report unsafe conditions; stop work when necessary
  • Equipment Reliability & Maintenance Execution
o Maintain and repair equipment to support safe, quality production
o Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues
o Ensure machinery operates reliably to meet production and quality standards
  • Production Support & Team Collaboration
o Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize downtime
o Communicate effectively with production teams on issues and priorities
o Support production goals and maintain workflow efficiency
  • Accountability & Skill Development
o Take ownership of work and maintenance outcomes
o Continue developing technical skills and supporting team growth
o Reinforce Safety, Quality, and Production priorities in all tasks
  • Education and Experience:
o A two-year technical degree with an industrial, electrical, or mechanical emphasis is preferred, along with hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, and general repair maintenance; however, equivalent work experience will be considered.
o Strong organizational, verbal, written, interpersonal, and time-management skills are essential to effectively support maintenance operations and communicate with production and leadership teams.
o Dependability, demonstrated through regular and reliable attendance, is critical for success in this role.
o Experience with overhead crane maintenance and inspections is preferred, as is computer proficiency and the ability to utilize preventative maintenance software.
o While technical experience is valued, DeLong’s provides extensive on-the-job training, and candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn will have opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization.
  • Skills/capabilities:
o Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude with hands-on maintenance experience (or willingness to learn)
o Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues effectively
o Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance practices
o Ability to read and interpret technical information (manuals, drawings, or schematics)
o Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
o Dependability and strong time-management skills
o Effective communication and teamwork skills
o Comfort using computers or maintenance tracking systems
o Safety-focused mindset with the ability to follow procedures and identify hazards
o Willingness to learn, grow, and develop technical skills over time

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting daily production by ensuring equipment, machinery, and facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position focuses on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair - including specialized work with overhead cranes, and minimizing downtime and maintaining compliance with safety standards.
