Delmarva Group is looking to add new members to our accounting team.
About Us:
We are a growing construction business operating multiple companies, seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands the financial complexities of construction, and can collaborate effectively within a team setting.
Position Overview:
The position will be helping and managing day-to-day financial operations across multiple entities while working closely with our internal team. The ideal candidate has strong industry experience, is highly organized, and can handle multiple sets of books with accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple construction-related companies
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and client billing
- Process job costing and track project expenses accurately
- Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
- Maintain general ledgers and ensure accurate financial records
- Assist in preparing monthly and year-end financial reports
- Support payroll processing and subcontractor payments (including 1099s)
- Collaborate with project managers and internal team members on budgets and job tracking
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations
- Work alongside accountants/CPAs for tax preparation and reporting
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience (construction industry strongly preferred)
- Proven experience with multi-company bookkeeping
- Strong understanding of job costing and construction accounting practices
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a team environment
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Reliable, proactive, and able to communicate effectively with team members
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a construction or contracting business
- Familiarity with AIA billing, progress billing, or retainage tracking
- Knowledge of payroll systems and subcontractor compliance
- Bookkeeping or accounting certification is a plus
