Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly capable and motivated Mechanical Engineer with 5–10 years of experience designing systems for life science, healthcare, institutional, commercial and mission-critical facilities. This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to project sites when field verification, coordination, or commissioning support is required.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred; however, candidates without a PE will be considered if they have a strong, proven record delivering successful projects in these sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Develop mechanical system designs for life science, healthcare, institutional, comercial and mission-critical environments.
- Independently generate P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) with minimal guidance.
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system modeling and simulations.
- Prepare clear, accurate project specifications using SpecLink.
- Produce drawings and documentation in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, plumbing, and process engineering teams.
- Conduct remote design reviews and site assessments; travel when necessary for surveys, field verification, or project meetings.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, etc.).
- Support project lifecycle from concept design through construction support.
Required Qualifications- 5–10 years of mechanical engineering experience in life sciences, healthcare, institutional, or mission-critical facility design.
- - Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SpecLink, and mechanical modeling tools.
- Proven ability to independently create P&IDs, specifications and detailed engineering deliverables.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, hydronic systems, process piping, and clean utilities.
- Excellent communication and remote-collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with cGMP facilities, cleanroom/HVAC design, research labs, hospitals, data centers or high-containment systems.
- Commissioning and QA/QC experience.
- Client-facing experience and ability to lead coordination meetings.
