What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truck Foreman - Olmsted Aggregate position at DeCook Excavating?
Olmsted Aggregate is a leading aggregate provider in the greater Rochester area. With four quarry and pit locations, we provide a variety of rock, stone, sand, and dirt for commercial and residential use.
We are looking to hire an experienced Fleet Manager to join our team! This position is critical to maintaining happy customers, driver retention rates and a smooth operation. The role is considered full-time seasonal which consists if a 6:30am-5pm work day, Monday-Friday, generally April through December.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage our internal fleet of drivers and any third party trucks, monitoring the movement from pickup to delivery
- Be the primary communication for drivers ensuring they know the best route, paperwork, scheduled maintenance and any special considerations for the delivery
- Enter data into our fleet management system accurately and completely
- Book freight aggressively to ensure our trucks keep moving
- Plan ahead by working with other team members continuously throughout the day
- Stay in constant communication with the customer and driver
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Valid Class A or B CDL
- Must have previous experience within the construction industry
- Detail orientated with excellent communication skills, ability to read and write in English
- Basic computer knowledge such as MS Office and Excel with initiative to learn new software and have the ability to multitask
- Knowledge of FMCSA Rules and Regulations
- Strong team player with the ability to stay calm and function in fast paced and challenging environment
- Strong critical thinking & problem solving skills, to prioritize and meet deadlines
