Lumber Yard Worker / Backup Delivery Driver

Job Description

We are looking for a dependable and hard-working Lumber Yard Worker to join our team. This is a full-time position with steady work, opportunities for growth, and a hands-on work environment.

The job involves keeping the lumber yard clean, organized, and properly stocked; receiving and unloading incoming materials; loading delivery trucks and customer vehicles; and checking materials for damage or discrepancies. This position also includes delivering marine lumber and related supplies to customers and job sites as needed using a non-CDL company vehicle. A valid driver’s license is required; a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is not required.

This position requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and performing physical work throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload lumber and building materials from delivery trucks and customer vehicles.
• Deliver marine lumber and related supplies to customers and job sites as needed using a non-CDL company vehicle.
• Ensure delivery materials match the order, loads are properly secured, and deliveries are completed safely and accurately.
• Complete required delivery paperwork and promptly report delivery issues or vehicle concerns to management.
• Organize and maintain inventory in the lumber yard.
• Keep the yard clean, organized, and safe.
• Operate forklifts and other equipment safely to move materials. Training will be provided if needed.
• Assist customers in locating and loading materials.
• Perform regular inventory checks and report any discrepancies or damaged materials to management.
• Follow all company safety procedures, driving policies, and traffic laws.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company and insurance requirements are required. A CDL is not required.
• Must be willing and able to make local deliveries as needed.
• Previous experience in a lumber yard, building materials, warehouse, construction, or delivery environment is a plus.
• Forklift experience is preferred, but training is available for the right candidate.
• Must be able to safely lift up to 80 pounds.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and lift for extended periods.
• Must be dependable, work well with others, and take pride in doing the job right.
• A positive attitude and willingness to help customers are important.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, climb, reach, and work around lumber and building materials.
• Ability to safely enter, exit, and operate company delivery vehicles.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and other weather conditions.
