Dechert LLP seeks an experienced, organized, and independent Assistant Managing Clerk to support our Managing Clerk’s Office and Litigation practice groups. This role is critical to precise, efficient filings, calendaring, and court operations. The position is based in New York, requires overtime during peak filing periods. Job Description Key Responsibilities Execute e-filings in PACER/NextGen CM/ECF, NYSCEF, and EDDS; coordinate appellate submissions with printers. Administer Milana docketing/diary (or similar systems such as CourtAlert, Compulaw); ensure accurate case records and calendaring. Process incoming court filings: receive, review, docket, and calendar deadlines. Review outgoing filings for procedural and format compliance; prepare service via hand-service vendors, e-service, and overnight delivery. Research court procedures and dockets using PACER, Bloomberg Law, eTrack, DocketBird/PacerPro; monitor rule updates and judges’ practices. Liaise with court personnel; communicate with attorneys, paralegals, co-counsel, and clients. Manage attorney admissions/registrations and NextGen account linking. Provide coverage and oversee the Managing Clerk’s Office in the Managing Clerk’s absence; help train/mentor junior staff as needed. Knowledge, Skills & Attributes 4 years in a Managing Clerk’s Office, including some supervisory/lead experience. Deep knowledge of federal and New York state court procedures, filing and service requirements (SDNY/EDNY, NYS trial and appellate courts). Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction; strong judgment under pressure and tight deadlines. Exceptional organization, attention to detail, proofreading, and research skills. Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative and client-focused. Proficiency with Milana (or similar docketing/diary tools), Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and iManage. Hands-on experience with e-filing/docketing platforms: PACER/NextGen CM/ECF, NYSCEF, EDDS, eTrack, DocketBird, PacerPro, Bloomberg Law. Education Bachelor’s degree and/or 4–5 years’ experience in litigation within a Managing Clerk’s Office environment. Additional Details Overtime-eligible; periodic after-hours and on-call coverage during peak filing periods. Local travel to New York courts as needed.
