JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Managing Clerk provides essential support to the Managing Clerk in the coordination and management of court filings, legal documentation, calendaring, and departmental operations. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and familiarity with court procedures and legal processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Assist in managing the department’s calendar, including court dates, deadlines, and internal schedules.
· Prepare, file, and serve legal documents in federal, state, and local courts (including e-filing).
· Monitor and ensure compliance with court rules and procedural requirements.
· Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and court personnel regarding case logistics and filings.
· Maintain accurate and organized case files, records, and databases.
· Conduct docket searches and retrieve case-related documents.
· Track and follow up on filings, motions, and other case activities.
· Assist in training junior staff or clerks as directed.
· Handle administrative tasks such as document formatting, proofreading, and document distribution.
· Provide backup support to the Managing Clerk as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, especially in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in a legal or clerical support role; experience with court filing systems required.
- Strong understanding of civil and/or criminal court procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal management software (e.g., CourtAlert, PACER, NYSCEF, CM/ECF).
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Salary : $90,000 - $125,000
