At DCI, our Survey Technicians are involved in projects from “field to finish,” offering a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in both fieldwork and office tasks. What You’ll Do
As a Survey Technician at DCI Engineers, you’ll provide high-quality field and office support to ensure project success. Your work will support survey research, field data collection, and production of accurate, client-ready deliverables.
Responsibilities Include
Office Duties:
- Collaborate closely with Senior Land Surveyors and fellow Survey Technicians.
- Conduct survey research and prepare boundary calculations from recorded documents for field crews to retrace property boundaries.
- Analyze Title Reports to identify deeds, easements, and other recorded encumbrances, and assess their impact on specific parcels of land.
- Draft final or near-final versions of Records of Survey, Topographic Maps, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Subdivision Plats, and Survey Exhibits for review and stamping by a Senior Land Surveyor.
- Draft legal descriptions and associated survey exhibits
- Independently collect field data for boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys under the direction of a Senior Crew Chief.
- Perform field survey calculations, including rotations and translations.
- Take clear, organized, and legible field notes and photographs.

Minimum Requirements
- 2 years of field experience.
- 2 years of office experience.
- Experience with survey equipment, including GPS, robotics, and total stations.
- Ability to climb steep hills and carry up to 80 lbs. for extended periods.
- Exposure to civil drafting software (AutoCAD / Carlson).
- Ability to manage time effectively and juggle multiple tasks or projects.
- Desire to provide excellent service and build strong client relationships.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest.
- Clean driving record with the ability to drive company or rental vehicles.
- Associate of Applied Science degree in Geomatics.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geomatics.
- Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) license.
- Interest in pursuing LSIT, CST, and/or FAA Part 107 drone pilot license.
- Familiarity with Carlson Civil Survey CAD software.
- Familiarity with Carlson field equipment.
