We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Bindery Operator specializing in Cutter operations to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating cutting machinery to ensure precise trimming and finishing of printed materials. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality products efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards. This is an on-site, 1st shift position scheduled to work Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities
- Takes cutting orders and sets up cutter in accordance with instructions and job ticket.
- Sets automatic cutting programs into machines.
- Operates paper cutter to cut and trim blank stock and printed material that is to be further processed in the pressroom or bindery.
- Performs preventative maintenance on paper cutting machinery such as blade replacement, lubrication and waxing.
- Complete production records (time sheets, job tickets, and PACE)
- Uses lift truck to carry pallets with blank stock and printed paper from loading area to press area and from Press area to the Bindery.
- Cleans up and keeps work area neat and orderly.
- Performs other duties as requested when needed.
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand written instructions including those dealing with dimensions and quantity.
- Ability to apply written instructions to machine set-up.
- Good knowledge of stitchers and binding operations and set-up practices.
- Knowledge of the operation and function of other bindery equipment and machinery.
- Good math skills and knowledge of simple computer operations
- Knowledge of all procedures required to safely operate a guillotine cutting machine and associated bindery equipment
- 3 years’ experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Heavy Lifting, able to lift over 45 lbs. repeatedly
- Able to work standing/walking on feet all day
- Excellent overall health and physical condition
- Frequent stooping/bending
- Frequent crawling/climbing/kneeling
- Frequent repetitive motion
