What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Program Coordinator position at DC Department of Human Resources?
The incumbent of this position serves as Peer Program Coordinator for the Peer Specialist Certification Program located in the Consumer and Family Affairs Division, Department of Behavioral Health. The Peer Program Coordinator is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and scheduling continuing education classes for DBH Certified Peer Specialist. Provides Guidance on the development and implementation process for empowering consumers as advocates to direct their own recovery and resiliency. The Peer Program Coordinator also coordinates the application and selection process of participants, coordinate field practicum placements, schedule meetings/activities for participants and maintain accurate records relating to the program.
This position is in the collective bargaining unit represented by SED and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through an automatic payroll deduction.

Tour of Duty: 8:15 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Monday - Friday
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT: This position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Work Experience
Comprehensive in-depth knowledge of a variety of administrative and technical methods, practices and procedures of the program, based on personal or secondary experience navigating the public behavioral health system of care in order to effectively direct, manage and oversee the day to day administrative duties of the Peer Specialist program.
WORK ENVIRNOMENT
The work is performed primarily in an office setting. This position may require travel to DBH’s Core Services Agencies throughout the District of Columbia as well as representing the program at local and national meetings/conferences.
Position Designation: This position is deemed as “Protection Sensitive” pursuant to Section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations, in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying protection sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests:
A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
