What are the responsibilities and job description for the Studio Experience and Post-Production Manager position at Daysee?
About Daysee
Daysee is a new family photography studio opening in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We are building a warm, elevated studio experience for families, with thoughtful photography, a polished client journey, and beautiful products families can keep for years.
We are launching intentionally. As a new studio, we will build this role thoughtfully, with clear priorities, training, and systems in place before launch. The scope may grow with the studio, but the core responsibility is clear: owning the digital client experience from shoot to final delivery.
About the Role
This is one of the most important roles at Daysee.
You are the bridge between the shoot and the feeling a family takes home. You know your way around a digital workflow, and you also know how to make people feel comfortable, cared for, and confident in their choices.
This is a hybrid role by design. It is equal parts client experience, digital workflow, retouching coordination, quality control, and product guidance. The right person enjoys being both behind the screen and in front of families.
Technical fluency and genuine warmth are equally important here.
What You’ll Own:
The Digital Lounge Experience
When the shoot ends, the client experience continues through you.
You will lead the post-shoot viewing experience in the Digital Lounge. This is the moment when a family sits down, sees their images for the first time, and starts to feel what they want to keep.
You will guide families warmly through their gallery, help them understand what they are looking at, and support them in making decisions about images, prints, frames, and products.
This is a sales moment, an emotional moment, and a service moment all at once. It is not high-pressure sales. It is thoughtful, service-led guidance that helps families choose what they will actually love.
Retouching, In-House and Offsite
You have retouching ability yourself, and you know how to communicate retouching direction clearly to an offsite team.
You will catch what needs to be caught, brief retouching notes properly, and ensure the final work meets Daysee’s standard before it ever reaches a client.
You will also translate client retouch requests into clear, realistic guidance, including what is possible, what is outside our standard, and when they can expect delivery.
Digital Tech and Studio Systems
You understand Capture One and tethered shooting workflows.
Our systems will be set up before launch, but glitches happen. You will be available to step in alongside the photographer to troubleshoot when needed.
You will also be part of our pre-opening digital workflow setup. Because we are opening a new studio, this role requires someone who is energized by building systems, not just following them.
Gallery Upload and Quality Control
You will ensure every image is properly uploaded, organized, and gallery-ready.
After founder quality-control review, all notes will come back to you. You will action them, verify the final gallery, and make sure delivery to the client is seamless, polished, and on time.
You will help protect the full handoff between photographer, founder QC, retouching partner, product selection, and final client delivery.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with both technical fluency and human warmth.
Technical Skills
You should be confident with:
- Capture One and tethered shooting workflows
- Photoshop and Lightroom
- Retouching, color consistency, image preparation, and file delivery
- Polished family or studio photography retouching
- Skin cleanup, minor distraction removal, crop refinements, and color consistency
- Preparing files for print and digital delivery
- Uploading, organizing, and quality-checking client galleries
- Customizing and placing product orders
Client Experience Skills
You should also bring:
- A warm, confident front-of-house presence
- The ability to read a room and know when to guide, listen, or give space
- Clear communication with clients, photographers, retouchers, and founders
- Calmness under pressure, especially during live studio days
- Genuine appreciation for the craft of photography
- Comfort connecting with children and families
- The ability to guide families through decisions in a way that feels clear, calm, and never pushy
Who You Are
You are likely a strong fit if you have:
- 4 years of experience in a photography studio, creative production, or post-production environment
- Experience being present when clients see their photos for the first time
- Strong aesthetic judgment and an eye for what makes a great image
- High ownership and attention to detail
- A proactive mindset and the ability to fix issues before they become problems
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
- A collaborative working style
- Interest in a role that blends client experience, post-production, workflow, and product guidance
- Availability to work full-time in-studio from Wednesday through Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off
What Success Looks Like
We will know this role is working when:
- Families leave the Digital Lounge feeling seen, excited, and clear on what they want
- Every retouched image meets Daysee’s standard before it reaches a client
- Technical issues are caught and resolved before they affect a shoot or client delivery
- Galleries are clean, organized, and delivered on time
- Retouching notes are actioned accurately and efficiently, with minimal rework
- Clients understand what happens next, when they will receive their images, and how to order products or prints
- The handoff from shoot to gallery to product delivery feels seamless
- The studio runs more smoothly because you are paying attention to the details others might miss
How You’ll Work With the Team
You will work closely with photographers, the Studio Experience team, offsite retouching partners, and the founders.
