- Responsible for the supervision and day-to-day operations in a multifaceted team environment.
- Hires, terminates, monitors, evaluates and coaches employees regarding performance, conduct, attendance, and other related matters. Holds staff accountable to organizational policies and procedures.
- Supervises and evaluates department activities against established standards, policies, and procedures. Initiates corrective action and evaluates results. Meets CAP and other regulatory standards.
- Acts as a representative of the hospital in outside associations and negotiations. Formulates action plans, which incorporate present and future equipment and staffing to remain competitive in the market.
- Implements and designs, with team, new policies and procedures
- that enhance our customer and employee relationships.
- Knows and evaluates reimbursement policies and practices with an ongoing working knowledge of future health care programs.
- Develops department budget and monitors variances.
- Maintains open dialogue with both the medical director and hospital administration on all Laboratory operations, including but not limited to, capital expenditures, expenses, and revenue.
- Interacts with physician office and nursing home staff to maintain good working relationships.
- Baccalaureate degree in Business/Microbiology/Biology or related field from an approved college or university required.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years managerial experience in Laboratory environment required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration and positive working relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, policies, and correspondence.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality.
- Applies a system-wide perspective and sound judgment in decision-making with potential organizational impact.
- Effective conflict resolution, negotiation, stress management, and time management skills.
