Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Payroll and Scheduling Manager to join our Payroll and Scheduling Department in Putnam, CT!

Schedule: Day Shift, 40 Hours Per Week

Weekends: if applicable

Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Payroll & Scheduling Manager is responsible for the overall administration, accuracy, and compliance of payroll operations, time and attendance, and workforce scheduling. This role ensures seamless integration between payroll and scheduling systems (Symplr), supports organizational staffing needs, and partners closely with HR leadership to align payroll practices with organizational policies, compliance requirements, and workforce strategies. The Manager will serve as a system Super User and leads continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and employee experience.

Payroll and Scheduling Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire payroll function to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Supervise payroll staff, including training and performance management
  • Audit timecards, PTO, bonus pay, and supplemental leave pay (e.g., FMLA)
  • Review payroll liabilities including PTO and leave balances
  • Process, review, and approve payroll adjustments and exceptions (including retroactive pay, overpayments, and off-cycle payrolls), ensuring appropriate documentation, compliance, and internal controls are followed
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll issues, exercising independent judgment to interpret policies and resolve discrepancies in partnership with HR and Finance
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Payroll and Scheduling Manager Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of current liability insurance as well as reliable vehicle required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll, workforce management, or human resources
  • Experience with payroll and scheduling systems (Symplr experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws and payroll regulations
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
