Responsibilities
New Business & Revenue Growth
• Identify, prospect, and onboard new shipper customers (LTL, partial, and truckload) through high-volume outbound outreach.
• Build and manage a growing sales pipeline within our CRM; track activities, opportunities, and wins.
• Develop and grow a profitable book of business by understanding customer freight needs and matching them with the right carrier partners.
• Negotiate freight rates and terms with shippers and carriers to hit margin targets while delivering great service.
Brokerage Division Build-Out
• Help build the brokerage playbook: target markets, pricing guardrails, processes, and SOPs.
• Provide market feedback to refine our value proposition, service offerings, and pricing strategy.
• Assist leadership in building a scalable team (future carrier sales and business development hires).
Customer & Carrier Relationships
• Serve as the primary point of contact for your accounts, ensuring on-time pickup/delivery and clear communication.
• Partner with carrier sales/operations to secure capacity, cover loads, and track shipments.
• Build long-term relationships with carrier partners and understand their preferred lanes and capabilities.
Market & Performance
• Stay current on freight market trends, spot rates, and competitor activity.
• Meet and exceed monthly KPIs: outbound activity, new accounts won, loads booked, and gross margin generated.
Qualifications
Required
• 5 years of freight brokerage / 3PL / transportation sales experience (inside or outside).
• Proven track record of hunting and closing new business.
• Working knowledge of truckload and/or LTL freight operations and pricing.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
• Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Preferred
• Existing book of business that can be responsibly transitioned.
• Experience helping build or scale a brokerage division in an asset-based environment.
• Knowledge of reefer, flatbed, LTL, expedited, or intermodal modes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
