David French Music is a family owned and operated company that offers a welcoming, fun, and positive company culture. We provide high quality musical instrument rentals and service to communities and school systems across New England. We support music in these communities by making regular school visits, having an in-house repair department, providing private music lessons, in addition to sales of musical instruments and accessories.
Purpose of this Role:
As a Prep Technician, you are responsible for assisting with the daily shop operations, ensuring quality work and efficiency of the instruments being tested and cleaned and returned to the customer, while upholding the company’s standards and values.
Your primary job responsibilities will include (but are not limited to the following):
- Checking/Testing inventory
- Preparing and cleaning rental inventory
- Preparing repair loaner inventory
- Assisting with daily workplace upkeep
- Organizing warehousing inventory
- Ability to make local instrument deliveries to various locations, as needed
- Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of the business
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient with play testing woodwind instruments (sax, clarinet, flute, etc);
- Violin (or band instrument) set-up experience a plus!
- Experience working with small machinery and power tools to perform the necessary instrument repairs;
- Strong attention to detail required;
- Organized multi-tasker with an understanding of the importance of providing high-quality customer service to our customers;
- Communicate in a clear, courteous, respectful and responsive manner;
- Able to work efficiently and accurately in a busy office environment while executing solid judgment and decision making skills;
- Ability to prioritize workload;
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor at all times;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Able to follow the company’s established processes and procedures.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License
- High School Diploma or GED certificate required
- 2 years relevant work experience
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to carry multiple instruments at once
- Able to climb stairs, ladders or step stools while carrying instruments
- Working knowledge of computers
