Job Summary
Excellent opportunity for a licensed staff level radiation therapist to join an established radiation oncology practice in Sarasota, Florida. The successful candidate will have an active Florida License as a Radiation Therapist and become a member of a four-therapist team. This is a full-time, permanent position. The radiation therapist administers radiation treatment as prescribed by a physician in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Responsibilities
Reviews patient history, physician’s orders and radiation therapy treatment plan. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient’s understanding and cooperation. Delivers therapy according to the treatment plan and the physician’s prescription. Maintain the electronic treatment record documentation in ARIA on a daily basis. Be able to perform daily warm-up and QA on the treatment machines and CT simulator on a daily basis; know safe limits of equipment operations, and report abnormalities or inconsistencies to the Medical Physicist, or Chief Radiation Therapist. Able to create and maintain immobilization devices and perform CT-simulation procedures with 4D CT respiratory gating. Observe clinical progress of the radiation oncology patient, use clinical decision-making skills to recognize and report any signs of complications, unusual reactions, and events to the nursing staff and/or Radiation Oncologist. Able to work without a co-therapist from time to time.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technologist Program
- American Registry of Radiologic Technology Certification, or ARRT Board exam eligible
- Florida State License (Radiation Therapist)
- CPR Certification
- Pass background check
- Must have a minimum of one year experience. The position is not open to recent graduates.
