Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing excellent patient care and supporting the optometric practice by assisting with various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires strong communication skills, a passion for patient service, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and ensuring they are comfortable.
  • Perform preliminary tests such as measuring visual acuity, taking vital signs, and conducting ocular health assessments.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Document patient histories, symptoms, and other relevant information accurately in electronic health records.
  • Educate patients on contact lens care, eyewear options, and post-examination instructions.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring all items are stocked and organized.
  • Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, processing insurance claims, and managing patient records.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide recommendations on eyewear products based on patient needs.

Skills

  • Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology and optometry.
  • Experience with medical coding for accurate billing processes is preferred.
  • Ability to take vital signs accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent patient care skills with a focus on building rapport with patients.
  • Familiarity with various systems used in optometric practices for scheduling and record management.
  • Strong communication skills to convey information clearly to both patients and team members.
  • Aseptic technique knowledge is essential for maintaining safety standards in the clinic.
