What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication & Shop Improvement Specialist position at Dan Cristiani Excavating Co.?
Overview
Dan Cristiani Excavating is a leading contractor with over 55 years of experience in utility construction and excavation services across the Midwest. Our maintenance organization supports a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, fabrication projects, dumpster and rock box repairs, shoring equipment, and countless custom projects that keep our operation moving.
We are seeking a highly skilled fabricator who wants more opportunities than the daily welding responsibilities. We are looking for someone who enjoys building solutions, improving processes, and transforming the way a maintenance shop operates.
This position will be responsible for designing and fabricating custom workstations, mechanic carts, storage systems, fixtures, repair stands, lifting devices, and shop equipment that improve safety, quality, organization, and efficiency throughout our facilities.
Working alongside shop leadership, this individual will help implement shop organization, workflow, and efficiency by creating visual workplaces where all shop tools, supplies, fixtures, and pieces of equipment have a designated location. The goal is to eliminate unnecessary movement, streamline workflow, minimize downtime, and ensure technicians can quickly access the tools and materials they need, improving overall shop efficiency.
JOB DUTIES:

- Improve ergonomics and workflow by designing equipment around the work being performed.
- Assist with continuous improvement projects throughout the maintenance organization.
- Take ideas from concept through fabrication and implementation.
