Responsibilities
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the abilities of students.
- Serve as case manager for students with IEPs.
- Advocate for student supports and services.
- May provide direct instruction to students with IEPs.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established District curriculum goals and objectives.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, while modifying instructional methods to fit individual students' needs.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including current technology and whole group/small group learning.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with administration, staff members and parents in providing feedback regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
- PA Instructional I or II Teaching Certificate:
- Special Education PK-12 (9231)
- OR, Special Education PK-8 (9226)
- Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting
- Completion of all mandated pre-employment documents
