What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designated School Official (Part-Time) position at Dallas Baptist University?
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
- Support the staff and students of the International Admissions department.
- Support compliance with SEVIS and DHS regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of different cultures, customs, and educational systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in general computer skills.
- Fluent in Microsoft Word and average competency with Excel.
- Current working knowledge of DHS regulations preferred.
- Customer service oriented.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create New Initial I-20s for prospective students
- Advise F-1 students concerning legal employment options
- Respond to students’ and prospects’ requests and needs quickly
- Prepare and conduct training for new DSOs
- Keep accurate records for DBU and DHS
- Execute DHS guidelines for non-immigrant visa holders
- Provide expert advice regarding immigration and SEVIS regulations
- Advise students, faculty, and staff on regulations pertaining to international students
- Provide regular, routine communication with students regarding SEVIS and USCIS
- Assist students with immigration and school filings as needed
- Assist each semester in meeting SEVIS reporting requests
- Assist in the procurement of official documents such as Texas ID, Social Security, ITTIN, Driver’s License, and DBU student ID cards each semester.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Available to work in person 5 hours a day, Monday through Friday.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
Qualifications:
- Must be a Christian and a member of a church that holds to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing in the New and Old Testaments of the Holy Bible.
