GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
The role of the Assistant Director of the Coffeehouse includes supporting and co-leading the daily operations of the DBU Coffeehouse locations and catering extensions. This position partners with the Director to ensure excellence in customer service, operational efficiency, staff development, and quality specialty coffee while maintaining consistent leadership presence across both locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
▪Undergraduate Degree preferred
▪Work experience as a cafe manager or barista
▪Hands-on experience with professional café-grade coffee equipment
▪Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to support and develop a team.
▪Customer service experience and skills
▪Solution-oriented in trouble shooting and problem solving
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities listed below are pertinent to both of the DBU Coffeehouse locations and the DBU Coffeehouse catering extension. Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Coffeehouse
• Support interviewing, onboarding, and training of new employees
• Assist in scheduling weekly shift assignments and ensuring proper coverage
• Lead and support training of employees on processes, procedures, and equipment use
• Maintain quality control standards for beverages, service, and overall shop operations
• Construct custom drink recipes for seasonal and special event menus
• Conduct routine inventory checks and assist in maintaining proper stock levels
• Support vendor coordination and product ordering
• Ensure café spaces remain clean, presentable, and inviting
• Provide leadership coverage during peak hours and assist with shift management
• Assist in coordinating and executing catering events
• Help manage and respond to catering inquiries and logistics
• Support marketing efforts, branding, and community engagement initiatives
• Assist in maintaining operational documentation, procedures, and training materials
• Step in to cover open shifts or operational gaps as needed
• Support continued growth, innovation, and expansion of Coffeehouse services
• Partner with the Director to improve staff retention, training, and overall team culture
• Ensure consistency in quality, service, and customer experience across both locations
WORK SCHEDULE:
Regular hours between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, but regularly flexible hours will be required.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
Qualifications:
- Must be a Christian and a member of a church that holds to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing in the New and Old Testaments of the Holy Bible.
