Procurement & Contracts Specialist - Financial Services - Boston, MA

We are seeking candidates for a Procurement & Contracts Specialist position with a top-tier financial services firm located in Boston, MA. This position will report directly to the Global Head of Professional Services Procurement and will be responsible for managing the “end to end” sourcing and contracting negotiation on deals across Professional Services and lead the implementation of Category Strategy plans. The ideal candidate will have 7 years of experience sourcing and contracting negotiation within professional services.

This is a 6-month contract position that will pay $70-80/hr (depending on experience) within a 40-hour work week. This position is required to be onsite 4 days per week. 


Responsibilities:

Sourcing Lead: Hands-on responsibility for managing the full sourcing process from RFP through to contract execution, while supporting and guiding a wider team with varying levels of sourcing experience. 

  • Leading direct negotiations and managing large, complex agreements.
  • Owning the end-to-end contract review process, including commercials, deliverables, and legal terms.
  • Conducting compliance checks to ensure contracts meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Coordinating input from SMEs (Legal, Security, Privacy, etc.) for contract reviews.
  • Preparing and managing RFx/competitive bid processes to optimize cost and service.
  • Promoting the use of preferred suppliers, standardized pricing, rate cards, and buying channels.
  • Driving significant contributions to P&L savings and cost avoidance.
  • Ensuring high client satisfaction in service delivery, turnaround times, and strategic outcomes.
  • Operating in full compliance with prescribed regulatory and process guidelines.
  • Executing against the category strategy plan.
  • Managing multiple deals and engagements simultaneously.

Category Lead: Responsible for designing, developing, and executing multi-year category strategy plans that align with Business Unit (BU) and functional stakeholder needs.

  • Conducting regular spend and supplier analysis and updating category strategies.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with challenging stakeholders.
  • Identifying and documenting cost-saving opportunities through stakeholder collaboration and data analysis.
  • Leading cross-functional teams for major projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Driving annual cost savings and productivity improvements through strategic RFPs and demand/process management.
  • Leading and delivering on strategic sourcing initiatives and deals.
  • Establishing preferred supplier programs, standardized pricing, rate cards, discounts, and buying channels; managing onboarding approvals for new suppliers.
  • Responding to requests and resolving issues quickly through proactive problem-solving.
  • Monitoring adherence to strategy plans, addressing process gaps, and minimizing leakage.
  • Supporting the training and development of key procurement talent where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 7-10 years of strategic sourcing and contract negotiation experience within Professional Services, with expertise in at least one core area (Consulting, HR, Marketing, or Legal).
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable P&L savings and cost-avoidance initiatives.
  • Advanced commercial negotiation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
  • Deep experience negotiating complex contracts with major Professional Service providers, including terms, conditions, and commercial structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement category strategy plans for Professional Services sourcing.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of best practices in procurement, risk, information security, and accounts payable processes.
  • Resilient and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in managing and influencing challenging stakeholders with diplomacy.
