Collections Specialist
We are currently seeking candidates for a Collections Specialist position with a social services organization in Miami, Florida. This role will focus on reviewing, reconciling, collecting outstanding payments, and supporting the team as they work to catch up on overdue balances.
This is a 2–4 month contract with potential to convert permanent, paying $25–$35/hour (depending on experience). This role is 100% remote but must be based in EST.
Responsibilities:
• Review aging AR reports and identify overdue balances for follow-up
• Contact clients, insurance providers, and funding agencies to resolve outstanding payments
• Research discrepancies in billing records and rebill as needed
• Update and track collection activities within Arize/Etactics
• Communicate with professionalism and compassion regarding account status and payment options
• Partner with program and administrative teams to resolve billing issues and update client records
• Support process improvement efforts to streamline collections and documentation practices
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure HIPAA compliance
• Provide additional support as needed
Qualifications:
• 3–5 years of experience in billing, collections, or accounts receivable (healthcare or nonprofit preferred)
• Must have Medicaid experience
• Working knowledge of billing systems or EHR software (Arize/Etactics experience a plus)
• Strong understanding of insurance claims, reimbursements, and client invoicing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
• Strong organization, prioritization, and time management abilities
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
