What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic position at Dakota Red Corporation?
SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Location Manager, the primary responsibilities of this position include performing preventive maintenance and repair of all plant equipment while keeping proper documentation. Plus assisting with implementing and creating machine operating policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Promotes a culture of safety.
- Perform basic plant and facility maintenance as needed that may include electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Assist the Location Manager in overseeing daily operations of the plant and oversee when needed.
- Manage spare plant parts.
- Assist in safety walkthroughs and related documentation.
- Assist in scheduling outside vendors for maintenance and repairs of the plant.
- Operational duties to support production operations and facility housekeeping.
- Equipment operation such as forklift, loader, etc.
- Assist with ordering required parts for maintenance and repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, experience, and skills:
- Requires High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
- Troubleshooting and prioritization skills.
- Prior mechanical maintenance experience or training required (Welding/Fabrication skills helpful).
- Must have mechanical aptitude and be familiar with the use of hand tools, hydraulics, and electricity.
- Must have good analytical skills to identify and solve mechanical problems with production equipment.
- Experience with electrical and mechanical blueprint/schematic reading. Including PLC troubleshooting.
- Basic operation knowledge of computers and related software to perform diagnostics and maintain repair and maintenance records.
- Must be dependable, well organized, safety minded and have efficient work habits.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
Physical, mental, and environmental requirements:
This is a high energy and mentally demanding position. Daily problem solving is needed using specifications and interpersonal skills. Regular lifting of objects up to 100 pounds may be required along with regular standing, walking, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping of objects. Although most work is performed inside the production area, some outside work activities are also required which are subject to seasonal Midwest weather conditions (summer heat and winter cold). Carefully follow noise, dust, and other environmental safety procedures as required. The environment also includes varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at the plant.
