Infectious Disease Physician – Locum Tenens

Location: Towson (Greater Baltimore Area)

Setting: Adult Inpatient Consult Service
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00am–4:00pm
Call: 1 weekend/month with onsite consult coverage
Coverage Need: Ongoing potential coverage
Start Requirement: Must be available to work July and August

Position Overview

A community-based acute care hospital in the Greater Baltimore area is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Infectious Disease Physician to provide locum tenens coverage for its adult inpatient consult service.

This opportunity offers a collaborative inpatient practice setting with support from hospitalists, ICU teams, surgeons, oncology, pharmacy, and infection control departments. The provider will manage a broad range of infectious disease consults focused on complex adult inpatient cases and antimicrobial stewardship.

Clinical Focus

• Bacteremia / Sepsis
• Osteomyelitis
• Septic Arthritis
• Pneumonia
• Complicated UTIs
• Endocarditis
• Surgical Site Infections
• Resistant Organism Infections
• HIV-related Infections
• Lyme Disease
• Immunocompromised Patient Infections

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient Infectious Disease consults and daily rounding
• Evaluate new consults and follow-up patients
• Participate in antibiotic stewardship initiatives
• Manage IV antibiotic treatment plans
• Support infection prevention and infection control efforts
• Complete EMR documentation using Epic
• Collaborate with hospitalists, ICU teams, surgeons, oncology, pharmacy, and ancillary staff

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board Certified / Board Eligible in Infectious Disease
• Active Maryland license preferred
• DEA and BLS required
• Clean malpractice and background history preferred
• Recent inpatient Infectious Disease experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Prior locum tenens experience preferred

Patient Population

• Adult inpatient only
• No pediatric coverage required
