As a Registered Dental Assistant, you will be an integral part of our dental care team, working closely with our highly skilled dentist and hygienist to deliver exceptional dental services. This role requires a proactive attitude, a meticulous approach to dental care, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organization within the clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and dental hygienists during a variety of treatment procedures, including but not limited to examinations and oral surgeries.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment needed for treatments and procedures.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) and intraoral photos when required.
- Manage dental supply inventory and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the clinic.
- Prepare the treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols, which include setting up instruments and equipment according to the requirements of dental procedures.
- Provide patients with aftercare instructions following oral surgery or other dental procedures, and educate them on oral hygiene strategies.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect the clinic by keeping information confidential in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Record treatment information in patient records with utmost accuracy.
- Assist with the impression taking and lab tasks as needed and directed by the dentist.
- Monitor and maintain dental equipment, including the autoclave, dental chair, X-ray machine, and lighting, to ensure optimal operational effectiveness.
- Engage in the continuous education required to stay abreast of changes and advancements in the dental field.
- Contribute to a team-oriented environment by maintaining a friendly, helpful attitude toward all patients and colleagues.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Registered Dental Assistant
- Understanding of health & safety regulations and ability to effectively communicate and enforce these regulations in the workplace.
- Excellent knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and equipment care.
- Basic understanding of radiology and the ability to accurately perform dental X-rays.
- Proficient in computer skills with experience in dental software, Open Dental.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive or confidential information.
- Demonstrable ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Organizational skills with the ability to keep accurate documentation and schedule appointments effectively.
- Educational background that includes a high school diploma; further certification in Dental Assisting is preferred.
- Current CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
- Compliance with state regulations regarding dental and radiography practices
