The Role
We are seeking a UX Design Contractor for a three-month engagement to help us reimagine and visualize the future of content discovery online. This role sits at the intersection of product innovation, storytelling, and editorial.
Your primary goal will be to build design mockups and clickable prototypes that test core hypotheses about how users discover and engage with entertainment content. You’ll explore innovative interaction patterns, content formats, and discovery mechanisms that can bring editorial voice and perspective to life in new ways.
You’ll collaborate closely with editorial and content stakeholders to ensure that screens and prototypes not only feel intuitive and delightful, but also reflect strong editorial judgment, including considerations of how stories are framed, sequenced, and surfaced to different audiences. These prototypes will be used for user testing and concept validation, and will provide foundational starting points for our in-house designers to adapt into our onsite experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Prototyping: Design and build screens and prototypes in Figma that explore new, immersive discovery experiences, including innovative interaction patterns, narrative-led layouts, and editorially driven content modules.
- Iterative Design: Collaborate with Consumer Insights to interpret user feedback from research initiatives and rapidly iterate on designs to find the most impactful interaction patterns.
- Deep-Dive Exploration: Lead design explorations for large product areas, reimagining full pages and end-to-end user flows that connect editorial content, recommendations, and discovery surfaces into coherent storytelling journeys.
- Brand Stewardship: Push boundaries while maintaining a recognizable brand language and voice, ensuring that innovative concepts still feel premium, and aligned with our editorial tone.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with a broad set of stakeholders—including Product, Content, and Research—to incorporate feedback into design executions, partnering closely with editorial teams to understand content strategy, voice, and framing so that prototypes elevate how stories are surfaced and experienced.
- 5 years of experience designing major features for modern consumer-facing experiences and apps.
- Figma Expert: Advanced proficiency in Figma is required, with a focus on creating high-fidelity, clickable prototypes that look like a finished product.
- Strategic Thinker: Ability to translate high-level strategy into tangible design executions, connecting product, editorial, and audience insights into clear UX hypotheses and testable concepts.
- Self-starter: Ability to work independently through ambiguous problems with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative & Adaptive: Experience working in fast-paced environments where designs are frequently iterated based on user signal and stakeholder feedback.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in web or mobile prototypes that prioritize visual storytelling and interactivity.
- $100-125/hr.
