What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Cypress HCM?
Our client, an Aerospace Company in the Seattle area, is looking for a Machine Maintenance Technician to perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on CNC machines and equipment.
Hours: Monday-Thursday 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Job Description:
- Inspect and adjust machine geometry, alignment, and leveling (linear/rotary axes, tool changers, pallet systems)
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CNC control systems
- Identify root causes and execute repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls, including sourcing necessary parts
- Conduct post-repair testing to ensure equipment is fully operational
- Plan and prioritize work, including ordering parts and staging tools/equipment
- Develop maintenance procedures when documentation is lacking and create tools or fixtures as needed
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Follow and enforce lockout/tagout safety procedures
- Collaborate with team members and support cross-functional work efforts
- Oversee and coordinate external contractors performing maintenance or repairs
- Support additional maintenance-related tasks as needed
Required Skills/Experience:
- 2–3 years of experience in maintenance or equipment repair
- Hands-on experience or knowledge of CNC systems (FANUC, Siemens, Mazatrol, etc.)
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with attention to detail
- Solid communication skills and ability to work well on a team
- Knowledge of safety practices, including lockout/tagout
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment (e.g., multimeter)
- Basic math and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, or similar equipment
Preferred Background
- Knowledge or experience with 5-axis CNC machines
- Experience with CNC machines such as Makino, Mazak, Mori Seiki, Starrag, Handtmann, or Chiron
- Technical training, military background, or vocational certification
- Familiarity with Windows-based systems
