Position Overview:
We are seeking a Component Design Engineer to support design and development activities for AE- and F-series military engine core components. The candidate will be responsible for creating detailed 3D and 2D models, applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, manufacturable designs that meet performance and reliability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop rotating and static components for core engine systems, including compressor, turbine, and bearing structures.
- Create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CATIA V6 in compliance and DoD standards.
- Apply GD&T and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure producibility and maintainability.
- Collaborate with stress analysis, manufacturing, materials, and quality teams throughout the design lifecycle.
- Support engineering change management, design reviews, and configuration control processes.
- Contribute to design validation through analysis correlation and test data interpretation.
Required Skills & Tools:
- Proficiency in CATIA V6 and Teamcenter for design and data management.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and mechanical design principles.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly.
- Familiarity with gas turbine engine components and military engine standards.
Education:
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related discipline).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing aerospace propulsion or turbomachinery components.
- Knowledge of metallic and non-metallic materials, coatings, and joining processes.
- Exposure to DoD programs and Rolls-Royce design standards.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
