Job Overview
The Formulation Chemist at CyCan Industries is responsible for developing, testing, and supporting the scale-up of chemical formulations for aerosol and adhesive products. This role combines laboratory-based formulation work with direct involvement in production to ensure formulas are accurate, scalable, and manufacturable. The position requires strong chemistry fundamentals, hands-on experience with hazardous materials, and the ability to support a fast-paced chemical manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist, develop, test, and refine chemical formulations for aerosol and adhesive products.
- Conduct laboratory analysis including pH, viscosity, density, and other standard formulation tests.
- Handle and measure hazardous raw materials in accordance with safety and compliance protocols.
- Perform laboratory testing and analysis to support product development and quality control.
- Support scale-up of formulations from lab to production, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot formulation and process-related issues.
- Perform calculations related to batch adjustments, formulation ratios, and material usage.
- Document all formulation work, test results, and process changes accurately.
- Assist in validating new raw materials and product improvements.
- Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, and Production teams to ensure product compliance and performance.
- Maintain laboratory organization, equipment calibration, and cleanliness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field required.
- 2–3 years of experience in formulation, laboratory, or chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with hazardous raw materials and formulation processes.
- Strong understanding of analytical testing methods and formulation techniques.
- Strong math and calculation skills.
- Ability to generate and maintain accurate technical documentation and reports.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a production-driven environment.
Working Conditions:
- On-site role in both production and laboratory environment.
- Exposure to chemicals, raw materials, and production equipment.
- Requires standing, walking, and lifting materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Use of PPE required at all times in designated areas.
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
