Job Role: Staff Firmware Engineer
Job location: Lakewood, CO (Hybrid)
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Staff Firmware Engineer to lead firmware architecture, development, optimization, and integration for embedded systems. This individual will act as the primary firmware expert within the organization, driving technical excellence, mentoring engineers, and collaborating cross-functionally with hardware, software, QA, and product teams to deliver reliable and scalable embedded solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Architecture & Development
- Lead firmware design and development for embedded systems and microcontroller-based products
- Develop low-level drivers, HALs, bootloaders, and firmware components
- Design scalable, maintainable, and high-performance firmware architectures
Development & Debugging
- Write optimized firmware in C, C , and assembly language
- Debug embedded systems using JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and serial analyzers
Technical Leadership
- Mentor junior and mid-level firmware engineers
- Conduct code reviews and technical design reviews
- Drive engineering best practices, CI/CD adoption, and automated testing
- Lead architectural discussions and technical decision-making
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with hardware, software, QA, and product teams
- Support product lifecycle activities including testing, enhancements, and bug fixes
- Ensure smooth firmware interaction with hardware components and application software
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on embedded systems and firmware technologies
- Evaluate and introduce new tools and development methodologies
- Drive process improvements and technology adoption initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 8 years of embedded systems and firmware engineering experience
- Strong expertise in:
- C / C / Assembly programming
- Embedded systems development
- Firmware architecture and optimization
- Hardware debugging and troubleshooting
- Power management techniques
- Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile environments
Salary : $130,000 - $175,000
