Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee multiple commercial construction projects across regional job sites. The Traveling Superintendent will ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget and to quality standards. This role requires strong leadership in construction coordination, hands-on knowledge of HVAC systems, and the ability to manage subcontractors and stakeholders on diverse job sites. Travel between project locations is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on-site management and day-to-day supervision of commercial construction projects across multiple locations, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications and company standards.
- Coordinate and supervise HVAC installation and commissioning activities, working with mechanical subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure code compliance.
- Schedule, coordinate and manage subcontractors and craft labor to optimize productivity and maintain project milestones.
- Enforce and promote workplace safety programs and ensure all personnel adhere to OSHA and company safety standards.
- Conduct site inspections and quality control checks; identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Maintain clear communication with project stakeholders including owners, general contractors, engineers and inspectors; provide regular progress reports.
- Manage project documentation including daily reports, field logs, RFIs, change orders and as-built records.
- Monitor project budgets and assist in controlling costs through efficient resource allocation and change management.
- Troubleshoot on-site construction and systems integration issues, providing practical solutions to keep work progressing.
- Facilitate turnover activities, including punch lists, commissioning support and final inspections to achieve timely project closeout.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of superintendent or field management experience in commercial construction or related trades.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with HVAC systems, including installation, coordination and commissioning on construction projects.
- Strong construction knowledge and skills: reading plans, interpreting specifications, scheduling, and quality control.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, maintain project schedules and meet milestones across multiple sites.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel frequently and stay overnight as required.
- Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills; able to coordinate diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proficiency with construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) and basic Microsoft Office skills.
