Senior Project Manager - Construction (Commercial Projects)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead medium to large-scale commercial construction projects from planning through closeout. The ideal candidate will be accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. This role requires strong construction and commercial project management expertise, excellent stakeholder communication, and a focus on continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full project lifecycle for commercial construction projects, including planning, procurement, execution, commissioning, and closeout.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules and budgets; forecast costs and manage change orders to protect project margins.
- Manage contracts and relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers; negotiate terms and resolve disputes.
- Oversee site operations to ensure quality workmanship, adherence to specifications, and compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks; implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and third-party consultants; facilitate regular progress meetings and deliver clear, timely reports to stakeholders.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety and environmental policies; promote a safety-first culture on site.
- Track and report project performance metrics; prepare executive summaries and financial reports for leadership.
- Mentor and develop project team members; support talent development and succession planning.
- Drive process improvements and incorporate best practices, technologies and tools to increase efficiency and project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of construction industry experience with at least 3 years in a project management role overseeing commercial projects.
- Proven expertise in construction project management, including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, contract administration and site supervision.
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial construction projects (office, retail, hospitality, mixed-use, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of building codes, industry standards, permitting processes and safety regulations (OSHA standards preferred).
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills; ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency with project management and construction software (MS Project, Primavera, Procore, BIM tools, or similar).
- Strong financial acumen, analytical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
