Quality Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to ensure product and process quality through system-driven approaches, continuous improvement and compliance. The Quality Engineer will lead root cause analysis, drive Six Sigma projects, maintain and improve quality management systems (QMS/EMS), and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain quality management processes and documentation (QMS) including EMS and ISO-related requirements.
- Lead and support Six Sigma and other continuous improvement projects to reduce variation, defects and costs.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) using methods such as 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Whys.
- Plan and execute internal and supplier quality audits; follow up on nonconformances to closure.
- Create and maintain control plans, inspection criteria, and process capability studies (SPC).
- Support new product introduction activities with DFMEA/PFMEA, PPAP, APQP and verification/validation plans.
- Monitor, report and analyze quality metrics (DPPM, yield, OEE, NCRs) and present findings to stakeholders.
- Train production and cross-functional teams on quality standards, EMS requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate with suppliers to drive quality improvement and support supplier development activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years experience in a quality role with demonstrated ownership of quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven experience with EMS (Environmental Management System) implementation and maintenance; familiarity with ISO 14001 is preferred.
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt required, Black Belt preferred) and practical experience leading DMAIC projects.
- Strong knowledge of quality principles and tools (FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP, root cause analysis, CAPA).
- Hands-on experience with quality data analysis and statistical tools (Minitab, JMP, Excel).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience driving cross-functional change.
- Nice to have: prior QE (Quality Engineering) specific experience, certification (CQE) or experience with Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) environments.
