Preconstruction Manager - Commercial Construction (Savannah, GA)

Full-Time | Office-Based | Growth Path to Market Leader

A well-established, mid-size commercial general contractor is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to support and eventually lead all preconstruction efforts for the Savannah, GA region and surrounding markets. This role is a key strategic hire tied to the company's continued regional expansion and will work in close partnership with the VP of Preconstruction.

About the Role

The Preconstruction Manager will be responsible for driving the front end of the construction process-leading estimating, budgeting, value analysis, subcontractor coordination, and client interaction from conceptual phase through GMP. This person will sit in the company's newer Savannah office and play a critical part in building the preconstruction function locally.

The long-term vision is for this individual to take full ownership of preconstruction operations for the Savannah market, becoming the go-to resource for clients, partners, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction efforts on multiple commercial projects across diverse sectors (e.g., retail, office, industrial, municipal, commercial interiors).
• Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and final GMP packages.
• Collaborate closely with the VP of Preconstruction to create processes, standards, and best practices for the regional office.
• Manage subcontractor outreach, qualification, and bid evaluation.
• Provide value engineering options and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Work cross-functionally with project management, field teams, and executive leadership to ensure alignment from preconstruction through handoff.
• Participate in owner meetings and presentations; help strengthen client relationships within the Savannah market.
• Support business development efforts through proposal input and pricing strategies.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in estimating or preconstruction with a commercial general contractor.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
• Proficient with estimating software, takeoff tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with conceptual estimating and early-phase budgeting.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and help lead a developing regional office.
• Desire for long-term growth into a leadership role within a stable, respected construction organization.
