Position Overview
We are a Colorado based law firm seeking a motivated and experienced Personal Injury Attorney to join our plaintiff-side litigation team. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse caseload from pre-litigation through trial, focusing on truck accidents, wrongful death, car accidents, medical malpractice, slip and fall, dog bite, and other liability matters. This role requires strong litigation and trial skills, excellent client advocacy, and the ability to obtain favorable resolutions through negotiation and courtroom representation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of plaintiff personal injury matters
- Conduct comprehensive case investigations, gather evidence, obtain and prepare medical records, interview witnesses, and work with experts to develop case strategy.
- Handle pre-litigation tasks including demand preparation, negotiation with insurance carriers, and settlement conferences to maximize recovery for clients.
- Prepare and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other court documents; coordinate discovery and manage depositions.
- Represent clients at mediations, hearings and trials; develop trial strategy, prepare exhibits, deliver opening and closing statements, and examine witnesses.
- Manage case budgets, litigation timelines and court deadlines; maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with ethical and procedural rules.
- Provide clear and compassionate communication to clients, keeping them informed of case status, strategy, and realistic expectations.
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and paralegals; delegate tasks and review work product to ensure quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with experts, accident reconstructionist, medical professionals and investigators to build compelling cases and counter defense theories.
- Participate in business development efforts, maintaining referral relationships and contributing to community outreach and firm visibility.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD)
- 3 years of litigation experience representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters; trial experience required.
- Demonstrated experience handling truck accidents, wrongful death, car accidents, medical malpractice, slip and fall, dog bite, and general liability cases preferred.
- Proven litigation skills including drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, briefing motions, and tried cases to verdict.
- Strong negotiation skills .
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills; attention to detail and effective case analysis.
- Client-focused with strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to explain complex legal concepts in plain language.
- Membership in plaintiff-oriented bar associations or professional groups, and continuing legal education in personal injury topics is a plus.
