CNC Machinist

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up, operate, program, and maintain CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components that meet print specifications and quality standards. The successful candidate will interpret engineering drawings, optimize machine programs, perform inspections, troubleshoot equipment issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of machining processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and monitor CNC mills and lathes to manufacture parts to specification.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code) and use CAM software or machine controls to improve cycle time and part quality.
• Select, install, and verify tooling, fixtures, and workholding; perform offsets and tool length measurements.
• Perform first-article inspections, in-process checks, and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges and other metrology tools.
• Troubleshoot machine and process issues, perform routine preventive maintenance, and document repairs or adjustments.
• Maintain accurate production paperwork, job travelers, and quality records; communicate status and issues with supervisors and engineering.
• Collaborate with engineers and team members to suggest and implement process improvements and efficiency gains.
• Train and mentor junior machinists and assist in maintaining a safe, organized work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade school certificate in CNC machining or related field preferred.
• 3 years of hands-on experience operating CNC mills and CNC lathes in a production environment.
• Proficiency with CNC programming (G-code), CAM software, and common machine controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Siemens).
• Demonstrated experience with mills and lathes and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Skilled in inspection and measurement using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and basic metrology principles.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and work flexible shifts when required.
