Title: Automation Controls Engineer

Compensation: up to $77/hour (Full time, Direct Hire)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automation Controls Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining automated control systems within the packaging industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation and controls engineering, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Up to 50% travel is expected for site assessments and project implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement control systems for automated packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with PLC, HMI, and control devices.
- Conduct site assessments and validation activities to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes using Lean methodologies such as Sigma, Gemba, and 5S.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including P&ID and schematics.
- Provide technical support for control systems, including Allen Bradley and Rockwell products.
- Utilize SCADA systems like FactoryTalk, Wonderware, and Ignition for monitoring and control.
- Perform system upgrades and maintenance on AC drives and I/O systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in automation and controls engineering, preferably in the packaging industry.
- Proficiency in Rockwell PLCs, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and associated programming software like RSLogix.
- Experience with HMI systems and SCADA software.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, control devices, servos, and sensors.
- Knowledge of IEC standards and validation processes.
- Familiarity with VMWare and SAP is a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for site visits and project implementation.
