Automation Controls Engineer
Location: On site in Menasha, WI or Green Bay, WI

Focus
- Support the optimization and performance of automated systems through the design and refinement of control and operator interface technologies.
- Lead startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts tied to new automation initiatives
- Help establish practical controls standards, code structures, alarm strategies, and documentation practices that support scalable operations
- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and external integrators to deliver reliable and maintainable automation solutions
- Contribute to the integration of robotics, vision systems, motion control, and connected plant floor technologies
- Participate in design reviews, risk reduction activities, testing, and implementation planning for new equipment and process upgrades
- Contribute to successful project delivery through cross-functional collaboration, proactive coordination, and effective communication across teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance, safety, and repeatability across manufacturing environments
Skill Set
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Background in controls engineering, PLC programming, automation, or industrial equipment support within a manufacturing setting
- Experience with industrial networks, machine integration, and plant floor troubleshooting
- Familiarity with high-speed manufacturing, automated systems, or complex production machinery
- Exposure to robotics, motion control, machine vision, or SCADA tools is helpful but not required
- Ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Strong problem solving skills, sound judgment, and a practical approach to engineering challenges
- A growth mindset, coachability, and real enthusiasm for learning new automation technologies
Additional Details
- This is an onsite role with some flexibility, but it is not intended for fully remote candidates
- Travel is expected up to approximately 25 percent, primarily for installation support, commissioning, and plant collaboration
- Candidates from packaging, food and beverage, consumer products, automotive, aerospace, material handling, and other manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply
