Our South Bay client, in partnership with CV Resources, seeks a talented HR and Payroll Supervisor to join their Corporate Finance and Accounting Team on a direct hire basis.
Job Title: Payroll/HR Supervisor
Location: near San Pedro
Job Status (direct hire, interim, interim to hire) – Direct Hire
Job Site Status (onsite/hybrid/remote) – Onsite
Compensation – $105,000/year to $125,000/year.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PAYROLL/HR SUPERVISOR
Payroll
- Process payroll to ensure correct hours, earnings, deductions, and taxes.
- Review and reconcile employee timecards, PTO balances, and personnel changes in alignment with company policies and wage/hour laws.
- Calculate and issue final checks, bonuses, manual checks, and off-cycle payments.
- Issue Union Status Letters
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies by partnering with HR, Accounting, and department supervisors.
- Maintain secure and confidential employee payroll records while generating payroll summaries and ad hoc reports.
- Support quarterly and annual payroll activities, including tax filings, W-2 preparation, and audit documentation.
- Serve as a payroll resource to employees, responding to questions related to deductions, timekeeping, and pay.
Human Resources (HR) – Benefits Administration
- Find process improvements within the payroll and benefits functions.
- Provide guidance to ensure benefits deductions, garnishment, and other payroll related functions.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce HR policies of the company.
Miscellaneous
- Accept all relevant tasks as given by upper management.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PAYROLL/HR SUPERVISOR
Required
- 8 years of hands-on, payroll processing experience.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state wage and hour laws, payroll tax compliance, and benefit deduction processing.
- Payroll processing of union employees
- At least 4 years of Human Resources (HR) experience (benefits and HRIS)
- HR work experience with unionized employees.
Preferred
- Associate or bachelor’s degree.
- CPP or SHRM Certification
- Fluency in Spanish
SKILLS OF THE PAYROLL/HR SUPERVISOR
Required
Technical
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUPS, VLOOKUP’s)
- Strong HRIS familiarity with HRIS programs (for example, Gusto, Bamboo HR, ADP, Workday, UKG)
Interpersonal
- Superb written and verbal skills
- High-volume processing capability with excellent accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to collaborate with HR, Accounting, and operations teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Strong communication skills when supporting employees and responding to payroll inquiries.
- Proactive problem-solving approach and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
