Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable & Cash Applications Specialist to join our team on a temporary basis, with the potential for extension based on business needs. This role is responsible for accurately applying customer payments, maintaining accounts receivable records, resolving payment discrepancies, and supporting the overall AR function. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and accurately apply customer payments received via ACH, wire transfers, checks, lockbox, and credit card transactions.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts and ensure timely posting to customer accounts.
- Investigate and resolve unapplied cash, payment discrepancies, short pays, deductions, and chargebacks.
- Research and reconcile customer account balances.
- Monitor aging reports and assist with collections as needed.
- Work closely with customers and internal departments to resolve billing and payment issues.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to cash receipts and accounts receivable.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including AR reconciliations and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve cash application and AR processes.
- Perform other accounts receivable and accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, cash applications, or a related accounting role.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and cash application procedures.
- Experience researching and resolving payment discrepancies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data analysis.
- Experience working with ERP or accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
